What is so good about fasting? Why fast? When we fast we must do it with God in our mind and heart. We must not let people know that we are fasting. This will please God who will also hear and answer our prayer. We must fast so that we are closer to God who in secret sees us.

Why does God appreciate prayers in secret more than public prayers? If we give in public it would only serve to be noticed by others. Giving anonymously so as not to boast is precious in God's eyes. You are glorifying Him in secret hen you pray and give to the poor and needy.
