It means that you give up the right to ever use the offense as leverage on the person for any reason. A Pastor of ours used to give a story about an elderly couple. The wife was interviewed and asked what the secret was to their long time marriage. She said they both wrote on a paper "Things that I will not forgive my spouse for.." The page remained blank. Anytime someone brought up the offense to her, she said, "good thing that is not on my list of things I will never forgive my husband for..." That could be a stretch for some of us. But to look at scripture regarding forgiveness Jesus encouraged us to forgive 70 x 7 times. This would be difficult to keep track of, so I believe he was saying there really is never a time that we do not forgive. He also said if you don't forgive, the Father cannot forgive you. I would never want to be in a position suffering consequences for refusing to forgive someone. The next time you are tempted to bring up the offense, just remember the list that you are allowed to keep of offenses you do not have to forgive... The list is blank!!! Lord help the readers of this blog and all Christians to forgive always. Help us stay humble and obedient to You! Amen! Forgiveness
