What did Jesus state as the primary purpose of the temple, and how might this apply to today? The primary purpose is having a connection with God (PRAYER) We must be careful today as well because we can easily get cuaght up in bake sales, dinner sales etc.. and anything else that detracts us from worshipping God. Satan uses anything he can to keep us from having a real relationship with God.

Beautiful Jerusalem. Jesus sat on the colt and visually took in the sight of splendor. Yet, His heart knew what was to become of this grand view and He felt compassion. Jerusalem unknowingly faced destruction in the years to come. But because the people did not believe Jesus to be the Messiah, they did not understand the way of escape-faith in Jesus and acknowledgment that He, the Messiah had come. It was too late for Jerusalem, and Jesus knew this in His heart in spite of the grandeur in His eyes. For this, Jesus wept.
