"Which of these purposes do you believe Jesus accomplished?"

Jesus accomplished all these purposes.

To Demonstrate God's love: We who believe in Jesus will not die, we will go to the place that Jesus has prepared for us.

To bring good news: He has indeed brought good news, He has performed so many miraculous things and the knowledge that God will save us is a blessing to be received in His time.

To sacrifice Himself on the cross: This He did certainly accomplish and although it  made us sad we are grateful for the sacrifice that He made for us out of pure love.

To be a source of abundant life: Without Him we would be doomed.  No hope of ever having abundant life with Him in heaven.

To help people understand the kingdom of God: Imagine if He didn't come to teach us the good news of the kingdom of God we would all be lost.  Although the Old testament lays the foundation for the teaching and events found in the New Testament, Jesus' teaching is about grace, love, peace, joy, and hope to name a few. He came to open or re-enforce our heart to the love of God, to teach us how important it is to love God, to love each other, the do's and don't's of kingdom entry.

Yes our Jesus fulfilled all these purposes listed in this lesson without which our eyes and heart would not be opened to ask and receive forgiveness and acceptance. He teaches us what we need for eternal life and godly living.

How does Jesus link intimacy to him with obedience to him?" a "New" commandment?
If you love Me keep my commandment: Luke 14 vs. 15.  God is love and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.  When we think of what Jesus did for us out of pure love it is our bounden duty to keep His commandments and love Him intimately.  Jesus shows us how obedient He was to His father, He came down in earthly form and was obedient unto death, His love for us was intimate because in obedience he laid down His life. Only someone who is intimately in love to the point of obedience would cement such a relationship and this puts us before God.  The sweetness and blessedness of Jesus can only be reciprocated by our obedience and intimacy towards Him.  That closeness, that one on one relationship, that intimacy must be experience and has to have linkage when we truly accept Jesus' love and follow His commandments intimately.  After all if we truly love Him we have to show Him that we are sincere and grateful. We have to have that close intimate relationship with Jesus and follow His commands if we intend to make it to heaven.

If you had a one-on-one meal with Jesus, what would you discuss?

This is a very difficuly question because there are so much things I would like to ask Jesus and a one-on-one meal is a very short time.

Anyway here goes,   After getting my wind back and worshiping Him right there and then, not caring if anyone was thinking I am making a fool of myself,  I definately would want to ask Jesus to teach me how to strenghten my faith, to show me how to renew a right spirit within myself and others, how to overcome adversities and how to lead people to Him and His teachings, enhance my missionary/discipleship skills.

I would ask Him how it felt when Father God told Him to come down to earth and shed His life giving blood for us and also what went through His thoughts when so many persons rejected Him and how it feels knowing that many of us who have not yet seen Him believe in Him and are living for Him, doing His will.  I definately would want to know how are my chances of entering the heavenly home He has prepared for all who believe in Him.

But most of all I would discuss with Him how much I love Him, how I thank Him for forgiving me, how I am indebted to Him for giving me a better life after this one is over, how I wish I could repay Him for dying on the hard wooden cross because what we are called to do is minor to what He has done but He accepts our meagre offering of self as compensation because of His great love for me and you and everyone.  I would ask Him to continue to love, protect, guide, supply all our needs because without Him we are lost, lonely, insecure, afraid, frightened, have no shepherd, no living water, etc.
