Why was all of Jerusalem troubled about the birth of Jesus?

King Herod and all Jerusalem with him were troubled because they feared losing their positions of civil and religious leadership Rome had permitted them to enjoy.  They were also fearful of how the Roman Empire would react to the appearance of 'a rival king' claiming rulership over Judea.  Yet these carnal minds did not understand that Christ would not set up His kingdom from Jerusalem in their lifetimes, but at the end of the age.

There is something else they did not grasp:  when the Son of God does return, nothing can stop Him from establishing His world - ruling supergovernment - not Satan or his demons, and certainly not the armies and government of men!

Why did God choose such a unique way (through a virgin birth) to bring Jesus into the world?
Through the virgin birth of Jesus of Nazareth, God became human.  This is the sensational and mysterious truth of the events of the Christmas story.  The creator chose to become man in order to deliver humanity from the meaninglessness and depravity that were the result of man's own sin and sinful rebellion.

Given the scandals associated with the women Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and the wife of Uriah (Bathsheba), why do you think they were mentioned in the geneology of Jesus?
Jesus was related to a generation that made mistakes; so Jesus' geneology was mentioned to portray that every family is not perfect.
