What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you?

Ilearnt that Jesus grew up in a village a think i had not thought about.Iam surprised by the humble upbringing of Jesus.His earthly father was acarpenter which only qualified him and family to be middle income earners.I am surprised by the age of Mary when she conceived Jesus.I am also surprised that her marriage was an arranged one by her parents.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

My answer is this. Jesus is son of God and it was a son of Man. He cleaned the then humans sin and returned to Heaven.
