What did you learn about Jesus` background that stands out or surprises you? I did not realize that they spoke Greek in the Roman empire. I also did not realize that Herod was likely appointed by Rome. It is helpful to read these details about life in Jesus' day--it helps one picture His life in something more like "living color"!
