God, the Lord in heaven.

Why is this old man Simeon so excited to meet this baby Jesus?

It was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ, who prepared the salvation before the face of all peoples, a light for revelation to the natins and the glory of the people Israel.

If Johns baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?

We are not being baptized to repent from our sins but because we have already repented from our sins. We are already forgiven and our guilt has been washed away by the blood of Christ. We undergo water baptism because our conscience is clear…so there’s nothing wrong when John baptized Jesus. Jesus has all the reason of good and clear conscience…

Jesus’ water baptism was not to convey that He sinned and that He repented. The reason is of twofold:

  • He foretold what would to come…. His death and resurrection, that He would conquer death …. Thank God He did…!
  • He set us an example. That as true Christians we must undergo water baptism. By doing this we are making public confession that we are making full commitment to Him in obedience. Also in water baptism we are identifying ourselves with Him that once we were dead because of our sins but now resurrected by the power of His blood that shed in Calvary.
