Compassion is an emotion that moves people to the very depths of their being. It involved the sorrow felt for other's suffering and misfortune, accompanied by the intense desire to help.

In this present age of indifference to the physical and spiritual suffering of others, Jesus wants and expects this attitude to characterize his followers(Mtt.18:33;Lk.10:33)
