Why were fulfillment of prophecies important? "note: Jesus predicted his death and resurrection? "...saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again...". There are also many accounts in the old testament describing the death and resurrection of the Messiah hundreds to thousands of years before the event. Fulfillment of the prophecies is living proof that the Scriptures and the Bible are true. These are not conjectures like astrology and the like, but these are real events that have come to pass after they were foretold. It proves the existence of a God who uses his prophets to foretell future events and thus demonstrate the power of the one true God.

Why were fulfillment of prophecies important? "note: Jesus predicted his death and resurrection? "...saying that the Son of Man must be delivered up into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again...". There are also many accounts in the old testament describing the death and resurrection of the Messiah hundreds to thousands of years before the event. The infallible proofs of His resurrection, that He did indeed rise from the dead, and was thereby proved to be the Son of God, are things revealed. A seasonable remembrance of the words of Christ will help us to a right understanding of his providence. Son of God and the true Messiah, had been so often told that He must die and rise again, and then enter into His glory, had seen Him more than once raise the dead. Jesus had often predicted that He would rise, He arose the third day, to answer the type of the prophet Jonas (Mat.12:40), and to accomplish that prediction (Hos.6:2), The third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
