When Jesus "breathed his last" and was pronounced dead; why did The Roman centurion glorify god? I think the centurion probably had an insight and realized at the last moment what they had done. Conditions like the darkening of the sky, and Jesus utterance to God as He died could have convinced the centurion that thay crucified an innocent man and the beginnings of the seed of faith began to grow in him.

Bonus question: Why was the veil torn in two? "The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two" Because the prophesy and will of the Father was already fulfilled, Jesus outpoured His precious blood for our redemption. It shows also that Jesus is a God, and His crucifixion, if we really think about is not just for Him.
