He tells the crowd about it because we can't be his disciples unless we are willing to submit to Him. In order to follow Him we must take our own cross, we must be not just hearer but at the same time we must be bearer of His Light and Love to everybody. To be his discipline we must willing to live according to His Will.

Saints,B/C the Bible is crystal clear that it is seeking Jesus that brings Faith not seeking Faith or our relatives,love one's and even mama Mary that brings Faith for he lives and we know that he holds our future...

Why does Jesus tell the growing crowd that one must be willing to renounce everything, including one`s own life, to be Jesus` follower? We are purchased; we belong to God; we are his by redemption; by a precious price paid; and we are bound, therefore, to devote ourselves, body, soul, and spirit, as he directs, to the glory of his name, not to the gratification of the flesh (1 Cor.6:19)It appears plainly, that all who will live godly in Christ Jesus must suffer persecution; and we must expect to enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations. With these predictions of trouble, are counsels and comforts for a time of trial. The disciples of Christ are hated and persecuted as serpents, and their ruin is sought, and they need the serpent's wisdom. Be ye harmless as doves. It appears plainly, that all who will live godly in Christ Jesus must suffer persecution; and we must expect to enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations.
