What are the benefits and disbenefits (costs) of worrying?
I know there are no benefits to be derived from worrying, and yet I constantly worry - about the future, getting old, being alone, sickness, finances, etc. It is needless and unproductive activity, this worrying, because as Jesus said, there is nothing you can do about it. In moments of prayer and enlightenment, I glimpse a few nuggets of wisdom from the words of Jesus, and realize that what He says is true. I pray for my faith to be fortified, for my heart to be purified and for my trust in God to grow stronger. If I seek Him first and acknowledge Him in everything, He will direct my ways. He knows what I need better than I.

"Which of these purposes do you believe Jesus accomplished?"

All these purposes have been accomplished when "The word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us."

God's love was demonstrated when He sent His only son that we might live through Him and be an atoning sacrifice for our sins (1Jn 4:9-10). Our faithful God keeps His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments (Deut. 7:9). "For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones, they are preserved forever."(Psalm 37:28)

Jesus brought good news through His preaching and the miracles He performed i.e. healing of the lame and the sick, giving sight to the blind, casting out evil spirits, calming the storm, feeding 5,000 people, walking on water and bringing the dead to life.

He has sacrificed His life for our sins by enduring unjust and dreadful punishments, and dying on the cross, all in accordance to His Father's will, so that He may come in the glory of God and His angels and award each one according to his deeds (M. 16:27).

He gave wisdom as the fountainhead to abundant life (Mt. 5,6,7; Lk. 6:20-45).

He made us understand that the road to kingdom of God is to repent, believe in the gospel and pursue God's ways and depart from our intellectual ways... for it is God's ways that must be followed...nothing else!
