Given the scandals associated with the women Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and the wife of Uriah (Bathsheba), why do you think they were mentioned in the geneology of Jesus?

They might be mentioned in the genealogy in order to show the bloodline back to David. Tamar was the mother of two illegitimate sons, Perez and Zerah, by her father in law, Judah. Rachab was a converted prostitute of Jerico and the mother of Boaz. Ruth, the wife of of Boaz was a godly foreigner from the tribe of Moabitess. The wife of Uriah is Bathsheba, whose adultery with David is well known. She later became the legitimate wife of David and the mother of Soloman. This could be the reason why their names have been mentioned in the geneology.
