When Jesus said, "it is finished", what did "it" refer to? That is, what was finished?

It refered to triumph; the proclamation to victory. The work of redemption that the Father had given was accomplished, sin was atoned, satan was defeated and rendered powerless. Every requirements of God's righteous law had been satisfied, God's holy wrath against sin had been appeased and every prophecy has been fulfilled.
