How can we experience the peace Jesus promised when we are in difficult circumstances?

Even in the most difficult circumstances, we should not loose our faith and trust in Jesus. Pray to Him with the spirit and truth. It is lack of faith that leads to agony. Firm believers will always experience peace through Jesus even in the most critical situations. Jesus said, "In this world you will have troubles. Take Heart! I have overcome the world."

In what ways is it better to have the Holy Spirit with us, than to have Jesus` physical presence on earth?

It is better to have the Holy Spirit with us because the Spirit is present everywhere. The Spirit will indwell in us and instruct us and testify about the father in heaven. He will teach us all things and make us remember all things that Jesus taught us. The Holy Spirit ministers not only to the believers, but to the unbelieving world as well. The work of the Spirit is to bring sinners to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. No one can be saved apart from the Spirit's convicting and regenerating work. Being omnipresent, the Spirit can reach everywhere at the same time, which was not possible for Jesus to accomplish by His physical presence.
