Why did Jesus choose to obtain the stater from a fish rather than from a more conventional source of money? Jesus proved to them that He is more powerful than the so called earthly kings who needed to collect tax for their survival. Jesus being the head of the church, the King, did not require any tax collection for His survival. He proved to them that if he wanted He could fetch money even from the fish that lived in water.
