The role of THE HOLY SPIRIT during JESUS' challenge with the devil, is that the devil recognised JESUS' Devine Sonship, he also knew the intimate relationship between JESUS and the HOLY SPIRIT. THE HOLY SPIRIT IS POWER, and it is GOD, not satan, that stands with final authority. It was THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (GOD) that defeated satan's temptation which was to offer the promise of rule without the agony of THE CROSS.
