Jesus was commited to sacrifice his own life. What did he mean by the statement, For who ever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it?

Maximilian Kolbe in the concentration camp comes to mind. The greatest act of love? dying for a stranger so that he can live. The greatest enactment of Jesus law of love. Self Sacrifice for love of another. Taking up that cross emotional and or physical to live life till the God chosen time or to be of support of another. Whatever. Whenever the i becomes small takes a side step with his desires and preferred inclinations to aid the other aka the one laying on the ground in need of help. Facing all pains and wounds like Jesus did for us.
