Jesus was commited to sacrifice his own life. What did he mean by the statement, For who ever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it?
Maximilian Kolbe in the concentration camp comes to mind. The greatest act of love? dying for a stranger so that he can live. The greatest enactment of Jesus law of love. Self Sacrifice for love of another. Taking up that cross emotional and or physical to live life till the God chosen time or to be of support of another. Whatever. Whenever the i becomes small takes a side step with his desires and preferred inclinations to aid the other aka the one laying on the ground in need of help. Facing all pains and wounds like Jesus did for us.

Jesus Predicts His Death
Jesus came to this world to sacrifice Himself for the entire mankind. Jesus is telling that for whoever wants to save his life will lose it. Jesus has given His life to the redemption of mankind. Our great responsibility is to work for Jesus. He is the only God. Our life is the gift of God. And we have to sacrifice our life for Jesus. Then only we will be eligible for the Kingdom of God.

Jesus predicts His Death
This statement of our Lord that ``For who ever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it`` Telling us that whoever love his own self follow his selfish way or self dependence more than the Lord is not worthy by His grace, That any man willing to follow Jesus have a sincere desire, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily.,

Cross-bearing is a willingness to suffer and die for the Lord`s sake and follow me. Implying that his own death would be by crucifixion. to save his life, Physical life, but that loss is insignificant when compared with gaining eternal life

Jesus Predicts His Death

He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke to them openly. Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But he, turning around, and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, "Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men."
He called the multitude to himself with his disciples, and said to them, "Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it. For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? For what will a man give in exchange for his life? For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
He said to them, "Most certainly I tell you, there are some standing here who will in no way taste death until they see the Kingdom of God come with power."
