In what ways did Jesus serve when He was on earth? In what ways is He still serving now?

Yesterday i caught the homily reading on a private channel televising like every saturday pm the Mass in Prato Cathedral, explaining the institution of the Corpus Domini, the Eucharist. When the presiders and the others were serving the Eucharist to the people streaming to the altar there was Jesus. In the hands of the ministers and in the hands of the ministers, the offering hand and the Body being offered. Like he gave himself to those historically alive spraeding the teachings of the Father and embodying them from conception in the womb of the Virgin Mary till the excruciating death on the cross. He also told about the miracle of Bolsena (the corporal being in Orvieto Cathedral built to enshrine it). NB The miracle is still not officially recognised but the Church and treasured as private revelation.

Why do Jesus`s enemies keep demanding a sign? Why doesn`t Jesus do a miracle for them?

You shall not provoke thy Lord. Jesus does not need to prove himself if provoked. healing those who need is another matter. Asking for proofs is an indication of pride.

How come the unbelief of His countrymen prevented Jesus from performing many mighty works among them?

I was gonna say they refused to believe and i may have replied so in the past. Now i noticed the word offended. And that is in contrast with honor. A prophet was never honored in his own country.But he was no prophet: he was the prophetised one. I guess it was their jelousy that explained their total unwillingness to even see or hear what he was doing or saying. There is no worse deaf than the one who does not want to hear it says somewhere. Jesus did not even thought it was worth trying. He dusted off his feet and walked on. Might have even been mocked asked what was the trick...his humanity the fact that they saw him growing from tiny baby into man made it very difficult to believe in his divine nature. They were not even willing to suspend their dsibelief though. Thomas needed to touch his rib but was willingto do so. Also probably worried that if he was the king of the Jews, intended wrongly as a political leder, that would have attracted the hatred and persecution of the chiefs? Herod had so many innocent killed. They did not have faith enough in the Lord to stand by his Son. And maybe many still did not believe that Mary had had a virgin birth so though Jospeh was able to protect her from being stoned, social stoning of her and her alleged 'bastard' son was not something he could protect them from. So being his birth unexplained and implying for them the fact that his mother had been unfaithful to the laws of the Fathers, no way to tehir eyes he could be considered a prophet. Let alone the Son of God. Still there were people like Elisabeth and Zachariah and Simeon who believed...and Simeon the blind man had felt with the wisdom of his heart that that baby was the promised one. Blessed are those who see and all the more those who do not see and yet believe.
