In what ways does the physical healings performed by Jesus in the path parallel the spiritual healings he performs on people today?

He gently and firmly takes hder hand and is a very personal healing that is allowed by the flowing of the Holy Spirit - Apostolic succession Holy Spirit handed on literally - and it is not a showy display to a group of emotional driven people. Like in charismatic healing services. Each soul needs unique treatment has its own wounds and needs special caring.And a truly deep reaching one not a mockery impressing show that throws you on a momenatry high from which you collapse again and then you need anotehr perk...you make it into an addiction. Literally.And leave the wounds unhealed.

Why did Jesus choose Matthew, a known taxgatherer and a despised man, to be His disciple?

It is also didactically ironical that to the self righteous pharisees he says that he came to heal the sinners. Make them sort of jelous of his closeness...not that one has to wish to be a sinner but its a powerful bell of self alertness. Who has ears to understand...

How is Jesus` teaching like fresh wine requiring fresh wineskins?

He is talking about when the groom is gone and so the waiting time not in mourning but in alacer preparation for his arrival (suppose melanchony is so to say undesrtood allowed). But we have to get ready renew our esarthly selves to be ready to be filled by His Holy Spirit at pentecost. Heavenbound waiting for his coming to us again and not aerth chained slave of the earth feeling that he is gone forever. Look up at the heavens whilst working on our roots and trunks.
