Why is giving in secret more to be commended that giving where people can see it? Because we do it in the name of the Lord and for the good of the one(s) in need and not to show off with men.It also comes down to respectful discretion toward them tehir dignity by not putting ourselves in a position of superiority. if it was us in their place?

Why is it evil to use oaths? We never really know whats ahead for us and we need to take very careful steps always praying the Lord at each. He only fully knows. Us too. In Him we trust on :)
