Why did Jesus tell the man to take up the mat and walk, even though Jesus knew this violated what the Jews permitted on the Sabbath?

As Padre Andrea said jokingly after Mass to a group of friends a couple of years ago, it is because 'take it away because its in the way' There is some truth in that i feel. in the sense that eh ahd no way of getting into the watre without the help of others so eh had to wait, not on the cold dirty ground. Nobody stopped to help him in but made on to immerse themselves and walked away. Who sinned more him taking away what he needed no more or all the ones who rushed to the personal healing ignoring his presence?

Why do you think the Samaritans called Jesus the Savior of the world?

Because he entrusted His Word to a woman, and women did not enjoy a high status at all in the society of the time. But like with the Resurrection wehn the first one to rush back to announce to the disciples what she had seen with her own eyes...so Jesus came for everyone...the lower the satus in society's eyes the more precious in the eyes of God. A secular society i mean.
