Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment?

What we do for others, we do for the Lord. The better we are, the more of a lamp to the feet of Jesus we become. Let our neighbours see what a shining light we are - they will surely be attracted to the light.

Jesus words make me feel safe and secure in the knowledge that their is eternal love for us. He lets me know that he will forever be there and will never forsake us so we can be confident of eternal life.

How does being forgiven increase ones love for God? Note: According to Jesus, God`s forgiveness is motivated by love.

Being forgiven by God increases my love for him because God did not have to forgive us but forgives out out of grace. This demonstrates that God is a Loving God so i am even more in awe of him and feel love towards him for rewarding me with eternal forgivness.
