What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel? Because Jesus was always honest and true to God, the Pharisees could not understand that. They sought to trick Him, but failed miserably! Because the Pharisees were dishonest, and self seeking, they marvelled at Jesus answer as it was not something they would have thought of.

Why was the Kingdom of God taken away from the chief priests and Pharisees? The chief priests and pharisees were greedy and self centred. They wanted power and used God as a tool to get it. This way they could control the people and have everything they wanted. God saw this and was very unhappy with them, which is why the Kingdom was taken away from them.
