Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him?

As a test of his faith in Jesus. By not selling all his possessions, the rich man demonstrated that, although he was basically good, he could not part with his earthly riches to follow Jesus. As his riches on earth were more important, his riches in heaven would therefore be very small.

Just saying hello

Just want to say hi to everyone as I haven`t checked in for a while. I`m not sharing my thoughts just now but am praying that everyone finds they`re growing closer to Jesus through this course.
