Why did the people ask jesus to leave their region after they heard about the pigs?

People knowing that they could not control the Demon-possessed Man would have realised that Jesus had powers beyond their understanding. The fact Jesus allowed the devils to then enter the pigs who were destroyed is hard to explain, unless it means that God will answer anyone who asks for his help. Being witness to these events would create mixed reactions and the people felt threatened. Therefore Jesus asked the man without the demons to explain how God had done great things for him.
