Why did Jesus use the greeting. "Peace be to you"? Was there special signiificance in this greeting?

Jesus said " Peace be with you" not once but twice. It was a confimation of His greatness and assurance to His deciples that He was one with them. Jesus was reassuring His deciples that they would find peace and rest within and that they had no reason to fear persecution.

Why do you think Jesus chose, after he rose, to show Himself first to Mary Magdalene?

I believe that there are several reasons behind Jesus choosing Mary Magdaline to spread the news of His resurection. First and foremost, she believed that Jesus was Lord( John 20:2) she refers to Jesus as Lord, secoundly, woman are seen as guardians of the heart and Jesus was very close to the hearts of the women that came to visit His tomb to annoint His body with spices (Mark 16: 1-8) and thirdly, in Jesus days women were not seen to be important and I believe that Jesus; by first appearing to Mary Magdalene emphasised the importance of women in our lives and the equality that they deserve.
