This is supported by the saying..." Don't let the left hand see what the right hand is doing". We should give to others without wanting thanks and praise. The lowly are those in need of our discreet help- others can repay us therefore the giving of ourselves is not pure giving, it has a receiving element. God wants us to give unconditionally and our reward, through faith and following his word will ultimately be the reward of eternal life. Can we ever feel compassion like Jesus did if we don't value the plight of lowly people. Everything with the Word of God is interconnected, like the intricate pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.
