 | JESUS PREDICTS PETERS DENIAL |
In John 13 after Jesus predicts, at a supper, that one of his disciples incharge of the money, Judas, will betray Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ had said `you cannot serve both God and Mammon, or money because you will hate one and serve the other. It says in John 13:28 No one at the meal understood what Jesus meant. No one for sure knew the emotional or moral exchange between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot. All we know is that Satan possessed Judas Iscariot. Jesus said to Judas, Go out and do what you have to do.` Jesus knew Judas was the catalyst for his death. Just after the verbal exchange, Jesus predicted he had to be raised up to glory. Then Jesus gave the commandment to love. Just after that Peter also wanted Christ`s glory. Why can`t I go with you because I would die for you, Peter said. Because Peter like Judas had tested God. Jesus then tested Peter. Unlike Judas who said he was a disciple of Jesus, Peter would admit to pagan romans and jews that he was not a disciple of Jesus. I think we can learn from the whole chapter that when trouble strikes, you may not be able to trust anyone except Jesus Christ and God and the holy spirit. Even your closest friend or relatives. ''Peter had no concept of the brutality of Jesus Death yet, from Jesus Christ`s prophecy'' Jesus says, I tell you for certain that before a rooster crows, you will say three times that you do not know me. Peter fulfills Jesus prophesy. The outcomes of Judas and Peter are different. Peter repents and asks for Jesus Christ`s forgiveness. Jesus Christ asks Peter three times, Do you love me? Peter responds, yes I do. Judas response is different. He fills so guilty that he hangs himself for killing an innocent and righteous man. He feels his actions deserve suicide. He did not give time for himself to ask for Jesus Christ forgiveness. They bury Judas, a jew, in the potters field with the outsiders. The jews then consciously knew they were guilty. However, even christians don`t bury suicide victims in holy ground. There are two lessons to learn here. A'' you should ask for Jesus Christ`s forgiveness because we sin every day. The price of sin is death. B'' Always choose life over death. We all die and suicide is not God`s timing for our death. However, I like to think that when Jesus raises the dead, to the living, that we have some window of grace, to ask for Jesus Christ`s forgiveness. By: sharron hill Category: My Blog |
