compassion

My friend has just suffered a tragic loss of her brother in law.It is so hard to find the right words to comfort her and her husband.It is so important that they know that I feel their pain and that I call upon our Lord and Saviour to lift his five neices out of the ongoing pain that they now have to deal with for the rest of their precious lives. Both my friend and her husband know Jesus in their hearts.I know God will carry them through this difficult time and even though I don`t know his brothers daughters I can pray for them in their loss. Jesus can do his work through us.He gives us the grace to be able to make our compassionate actions into a healing touch. We may not be able to see at the time that what we are doing could be of any benifit whatsoever but if we reach out to Jesus and ask for his help he will convert our action by His perfect love. We are only human but he is divine and loves all of us perfectly and knows exactly what is best for each and everyone of us.

background on Jesus that stands out

I didn`t realise how much today we are like Rome of then with multiculturalism being today`s stumbling block. I guess I knew that Jesus was from the middle classes but I don`t know why I thought he`d be tall and strongly built. Maybe its something to do with the awe in which I hold Him in given the works at the cross - with the weight of the world`s sin on His shoulders, but even the carpenters I know today aren`t particularly largely built so it shouldn`t have been a surprise that he`d be smallish in stature like most jewish men. I didn`t know anything about the clothing and had wondered about the loincloth ''not sure why - I just wondered what it was. Had an image of Tarzan in my mind!''. I knew that woman weren`t held in any great esteeem which is why I love the fact that it was the two Mary`s that first discovered Jesus had risen. If the Christian`s were making up the story they wouldn`t have used women as the first to find Him missing because they would immediately have been doubted simply because they`re women and held no real value. With the account holding up thoughout the ages it proves the verasity of evidence that Christ had risen because they couldn`t quash the claim EVEN with `second-class citizens` carrying the story so there must have been other evidence and/or no denying the facts - love it!

Define Compassion?

Compassion. God made us emotional creatures because He is emotional in nature. Emotions were given in order to energise behaviour - be a catalyst for action. Christ exemplifies one of the emotions we should cultivate - compassion. He demonstrates that in the midst of activity we should never be too busy to help those who are hurting.
