When religious leaders accused Jesus of working on the day of rest (Jesus), why did Jesus get so angry?
jesus was angered because although keeping the sabbath was one of the laws demanded by God in the scriptures, however it did not mean that the israelites should become blind slaves to the laws .The Sabbath day was established for man.The law was established for man .when they followed these rules blindly thinking that is the way to achieve grace ''by their deeds''they lost all perspective as to what God asked of them, that he is the one to be loved and obeyed, Before the ten commandments the following words are written, I, the Lord your God, am the God who lead you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of slavery, ''Exodus 20:2''. In other words, the forgiveness and salvation of God, the grace of God and the work of his salvation based on that grace came first. The reason they were saved was not that they had kept the law. It is because of his grace. jesus kept on teaching us to love the creator and not the created.

these people were unwilling to see others being set free so when Jesus did it they saw Him to be a direct opponent to them

Lord of the Sabbath

It happened that he was going on the Sabbath day through the grain fields, and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of grain. The Pharisees said to him, "Behold, why do they do that which is not lawful on the Sabbath day?"
He said to them, "Did you never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry--he, and those who were with him? How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the show bread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and gave also to those who were with him?" He said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Therefore the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath."

He entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had his hand withered. They watched him, whether he would heal him on the Sabbath day, that they might accuse him. He said to the man who had his hand withered, "Stand up." He said to them, "Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?" But they were silent. When he had looked around at them with anger, being grieved at the hardening of their hearts, he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was restored as healthy as the other. The Pharisees went out, and immediately conspired with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
