Unfolding the parable
OK, so Jesus curses a fig tree because it doesn’t have any fruit on it. It’s not in season, so why is Jesus so upset with a measly little Fig Tree?

Many people in the world claim they’re Christians just because they go to church for the Christmas and Easter service or because they own a bible. They have the outward appearance of a Christian but really, there’s nothing there. No real relationship with the Lord. The Fig Tree in the parable looks like it has fruit from a distance, but when Jesus gets closer and takes a good look at the tree, there’s nothing there. Just leaves. So when someone claims that he’s a Christian and really is not then he is baring no spiritual fruit.

What lesson do you think Jesus taught the disciples by cursing the fig tree?
to have faith in what we do and say or ask. we have to have genuine faith 100%. I also belive he showed us that the earth was created for us, and that we can change earthly problems by beliving and having genuine faith. it is the quality of faith that is the key not the amount. Matt 17:20 '' mustard seed ''

What lesson do you think Jesus taught the disciples by cursing the fig tree?
He wants us to alwasy have faith and stay with him and believe and we will be fruitful in the Lord but if he comes to us and we have no faith then we may never have the true faith that is being offered to us by Jesus.

What lesson do you think Jesus taught the disciples by cursing the fig tree?
It is the faith lesson, of course, but it`s also the infructuous fig lesson. If the fig didn`t had any fruits when Jesus asked for a fruit, then it will never have at all. The time of the crops is not when we think it is, at the right season, it is at the moment Jesus demands it.

What lesson do you think Jesus taught the disciples by cursing the fig tree?
I think He was showing them that miracles would follow...and faith and prayer are key disciplines needed. I also think there is a lesson in there about being fruitless...not doing what God wants us to....

The Fig tree withers
Maybe Jesus used the fig tree to say if you don`t pray, have faith or believe you will not prosper.

The Fig Tree Withers

Now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he was hungry. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves. He said to it, "Let there be no fruit from you forever!"
Immediately the fig tree withered away. When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, "How did the fig tree immediately wither away?"
Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith, and don't doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it would be done. All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
