You can receive the Holy Spirit by asking Jesus to come into your heart. He will come into your heart if you ask Him to forgive your sins (your wrongdoing). The Holy Spirit is one with God and with Jesus. Therefore, when you ask Jesus into your heart, you are responding to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus comes to live in your heart in response to your request (and your repentance for wrong doing, sin) the Holy Spirit comes to live in your heart
However, letting the Holy Spirit guide your life completely is another process. It involves surrendering daily to God, and learning His will through His Word, and then obeying it. The Holy Spirit guides those who let Him guide them. He does not push His way into anyone`s life.
