Jesus could not do a mighty work in his own town among relatives because of disbelief. What is disbelief?
disbelief is the contrary of faith.it is not believing even that which you see.it is not wanting to believe.so jesus` family or relatives did not have faith in him , and we know that faith made power flow out of jesus to help people in need.god who is one who doesnt force himself upon his people leaves them to their own free will to accept him or reject him, and thus be blessed with all that he promised them in this world and in eternity.if they choose disbelief he will just let them be and move on to the next city, because jesus came for all mankind and not just his own.for jesus said that whoever believes in him and his father is his brother.jesus sees things outside human understanding .his family is all those who have faith in his father and have the holy spirit in them. The absence of which will make a person a non-believer.

A Prophet Without Honor

He went out from there. He came into his own country, and his disciples followed him. When the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things?" and, "What is the wisdom that is given to this man, that such mighty works come about by his hands? Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Jude, and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him.
Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house." He could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people, and healed them. He marveled because of their unbelief.
