İ think Jesus suffered emotional and physical pain because he was a human being like us and suffered like us even though he was the son of God. He was an innocent man who suffered for each of us so that we could be saved. He took the punishments they delt to him knowing that it was the only way mankind could be saved. Jesus is God in the form of man, therefore he suffered just the same as we do. When we sin we experience physical, emotional pain and spiritual separation. It's was to fulfil his promise when he accept to surrender his life to die for her sake in other to serve us from eternal destruction. This physical pain symbolize his significant human appearance but he suffer because he claim to be The Son Of God according to the jewish formation. Jesus' penalty for "sin" needed to include physical and emotional pain because God wanted to show all human beings that he was sending his only son to suffer and to save all humans from the evils of mankind. Jesus suffered all physical and emotional pain to save everyone from sin. By doing this Jesus accomplished his mission, to bear the penalty for the evils of mankind. Jesus came down to the earth in human form and suffered physical and emotional pain. When we call to mind Jesus' physical and emotional suffering Jesus went through to save us from our sins, we too feel the physical and emotional pain and it helps us to do our very best not to to sin again. Because Jesus was a physical man. In His bodily form He felt physical and emotional pain. When He became separated from God as He took on the sin of the world He felt what any person would in His circumstance.
His death had to be physical because His resurrection was physical.
