Why was Jesus baptised?
According to the study Bible I use there are 4 reasons for Jesus` baptism. It also marked the beginning of Christ`s messianic ministry. The reasons are; 1'' The first, mentiond here, was to fulfill all righteousness. The baptism indicated that he was concecrated to God and officially approved by him, as esspically shown in the descent of the Holy Spirit, and the words of the Father. All God`s rightous requirements for the Messiah were fully met in Jesus. 2'' At Jesus` baptism John pubicly announced the arrival of the Messiah and the inception of his ministry. 3'' By his baptism Jesus completely identified himself with man`s sin and failure ''though he himself needed no repentance or cleansing from sin.'' becoming our subsitute. 4'' His baptism was an example to his followers. Number 4 comfirms what we all should do, although we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior in our hearts, we have to make a public display of our faith by following Jesus` example in believers baptisim. This information was found in Matthew 3.

If John`s baptism was for repentance, then why do you think Jesus was baptized?
Jesus was baptized, because he was a human being. In order to be seen as the Son of God, Jesus had to be baptized, so that any sins He may commit would be forgiven. Baptism also allows us, and Jesus, to receive the Holy Spirit.

I think that just as we are baptised to cleanse us from sin and mark our entry into Christianity, so also Jesus chose to be baptized to mark the start of his ministry.

Why John baptized Jesus
Actually John deny to baptized Jesus, but Jesus said to John : Let it be so now: because so it is right for us to make righteousness complete. ''Matt 3:15'' Then he gave him baptism. Cause Jesus want to give a sample for us that we have to lower ourselves before the Lord by giving ourlive to be baptized. Baptized the symbol that will show that there is a peace between us and the God. Also Jesus is 100% man and 100% God, so every people if they want to get closer to the Lord, repent for their sins, then they must give their self to be baptized.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As it is written in the prophets,
"Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.
The voice of one crying in the wilderness,
'Make ready the way of the Lord!
Make his paths straight!'"
John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching the baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins. All the country of Judea and all those of Jerusalem went out to him. They were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins. John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist. He ate locusts and wild honey. He preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen. I baptized you in water, but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit."
