Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
The crowd wanted to see Jesus crucified, because the elders and chief priests had convinced them that Jesus deserved to die. The elders beleived that Jesus was not the son of God, and had committed blasphemy by saying He was. They thought He deserved to die for this.

They had then a notable prisoner.. words struck me now. Notable famous. earthly power prevails. They follow those and not the truly all powerful one. They did not hear the message properly or their hearts were stone hard. So i guest.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
Barabbas is one of them. Secondly, Jesus have been totally misplaced before the multitude as calling Himself the Son of God while they don`t what that stand for. Because they perceived God did not have or bore any child.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
The multitude were envious and that they were trying by all means to please the high priest who pasuaaded them to realese Barabbas and not Jesus. All in all , this was also done that the son of man''Jesus'' should die in order to serve mankind. The priest tried by many evil ways against Jesus but Jesus proved to them that He was innocent.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
there was no legitimate accusation against Jesus in any of the Jewish or Roman trials, which showed the great innocence in Jesus, lamb of God. Pilate said I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. Yet the evil and Satan in men`s hearts chose to release Barabbas.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
This is the work of the God Almighty by closing there eyes not to see the truth only for His will to be furfilled.God did the same thing to Pharaoh of Egypt. Here they have no reason of shouting for the relise of a criminal than a messaiah. Only, that Christ said I will pulled down the house of God in Jerusalem and re-build it on three days time.

Why did the multitude want Barabbas released rather than Jesus?
The chief priests and the elders hated Jesus because He brought out their hypocrisies. They spread gossip and lies about Jesus throughout the land, and unfortunately most of the multitude believed these lies. It ended up that the multitude ended up hating Jesus just as much as the chief priests and elders. It didn`t matter which other prisoner there was to be released, as long as they now had Jesus where they wanted Him to be. They wanted Jesus to be crucified and that was all there was to it.

Jesus Before Pilate

Now Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
Jesus said to him, "So you say."
When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. Then Pilate said to him, "Don't you hear how many things they testify against you?"
He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly. Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired. They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?" For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him." Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. But the governor answered them, "Which of the two do you want me to release to you?"
They said, "Barabbas!"
Pilate said to them, "What then shall I do to Jesus, who is called Christ?"
They all said to him, "Let him be crucified!"
But the governor said, "Why? What evil has he done?"
But they cried out exceedingly, saying, "Let him be crucified!"
So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it."
All the people answered, "May his blood be on us, and on our children!"
Then he released to them Barabbas, but Jesus he flogged and delivered to be crucified.
