Jesus as the Lamb of God
John points to Jesus and says,

Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! ''John 1:29''

There were a lot of people in Jesus` day who were trying to claim the title "Messiah." Guess how many people were trying to claim the title "Lamb of God?" Nobody. What happens to the Lamb of God? Each year at Passover, every family would select a lamb to be sacrificed. It was a way of expressing that something`s gone wrong with us that the human race has made a mess of our world, and we can`t make it right. We need forgiveness. We need for it to be atoned for, and we can`t do it ourselves. When He is twelve years old, Jesus goes to the Temple where they are celebrating Passover. He sees the lamb laid on the altar. He sees it slain, its blood shed. I wonder what He thought. Behold the Lamb of God.

Jesus` message is that our problem is not just a Roman problem; it`s not just a problem out there; it`s a sin problem. Messiah has come, but He hasn`t come just for Israel. He`s come for the whole world the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. The way that Messiah will bring the Kingdom to earth is not by conquest, power, violence and anger, but through love and sacrifice the way of the Cross.

We all have our own stories. We all want a Messiah who is strong, who will fix things up out there, make our circumstances the way we want them to be. But we need a Messiah who will fix things up in here"in our hearts.

"But now, apart from law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction, since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; they are now justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement by his blood, effective through faith." ( Romans 3:21-25)

"Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to set us free from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father." ( Galatians 1:3-4)

"For God has destined us not for wrath but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live with him." ( 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)

"Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children and live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." ( Ephesians 5:1-2)

"For the grace of God has appeared, bring salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly, while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of thief glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds." ( Titus 2:11-14)

"For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself a ransom for all..." ( 1 Timothy 2:5-6)

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. ( Ephesians 2:13-22)
