How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
If they carried along their material possessions, they would look to it, and this would distract their dependence upon God as the sole provider for all their needs. They learnt to trust in Jesus, and to lean on him, and were very effective and successful. They preached, cast out demons, and healed many. I hope our modern church leaders learn from this.

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
Jesus equip the disciples by disseminating them from wordly materials which will not allow them to the do the will of God. By putting-on all what is of the world, their mind will surely be upon what they possessed and not HE ''Christ'' who send them out to do the job of repentance.

How did Jesus equip his disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions?
Jesus equip his disciples with faith but not material things. He wanted to keep our lives free from the love of money and be content with what we have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. . So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. Jesus wanted his disciples to preach God almighty power

JESUS Sends Out the Twelve

When JESUS sent out the twelve deciples HE sent them out without any thing of value or materialisted items.  HE sent them to preach GOD'S WORD of repentance and healing the sick, and casting out evil spirits.  Their main objective was GODS work not having to keep up with neccesities things that will weigh you down.  Their mission was to let others know about GOD and all that they can receive if they only believe and follow JESUS.

Jesus sends out the twelve
Jesus sends the disciples as ministers of the Gospel ought not to be a worldly minded men He ought to have their mind free from all solicitude and anxious concern, about a subsistence for themself and their`s, that so they may with greater and more close application attend to His ministry, to preparations for it, and the performance of it; and give up themselves entirely to the word and prayer, and not have their mind distracted with other things. Jesus was very much conscious about the wordly things, that these things may definetely give temptation and concern to the disciples. Hence Jesus equipped His disciples for powerful work by taking away their material possessions.

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve

He went around the villages teaching. He called to himself the twelve, and began to send them out two by two; and he gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse, but to wear sandals, and not put on two tunics. He said to them, "Wherever you enter into a house, stay there until you depart from there. Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!"
They went out and preached that people should repent. They cast out many demons, and anointed many with oil who were sick, and healed them.
