A Prophet Without Honor
The people did not believe that Jesus was the Messiah. That is why he could not do all of his works.

How come the unbelief of His countrymen prevented Jesus from performing many mighty works among them?
They saw him growing up like a normal boy and are `blinded` by his humanity.Suppose that those who loved him truly believed too. Others might have very well be jealous of his mighty God given powers. Those wonders taht go beyond what we normally see and experience are more likely to strike us as true if they come from an afar country. There was no point in making hsi Power foreshine there. Which risks making us fall into the trap of mythology. But if you have really taken in the Word and know which love prophecies had to be fullfilled...in the OT Tradition preserved in the Ark and fullfiled in the yes of Mary ''again yesterday at the Militia meeting, somebody said how Mary showed incredible courage in obeying God, first Commandment, risking to be stoned and condemned for the false accusation of having broken one of the Commandments regarding fidelity -but the angels had prepared Jospeh heart and his OT Faith must have been equally unshakable'' the most indisputable one especially also for his countrymen being the Resurrection from the dead. Who else could? so mighty that it must have overturned the disbelief of many.

Matthew`s Biography of Jesus - A Prophet Without Honor
A person can command greater levels of respect outside of his community, than in his own neighbourhood and home. The power of estrangement has its positive values when delivering a poignant message. It is like a drop of oil being placed in water, versus being dropped in a barrel of oil.

You have to believe in Jesus to perceive His greatness. This was the second chance He gave His countrymen to believe and yet they thought because they knew his family and his background that they could condemn the prophet.

How come the unbelief of His countrymen prevented Jesus from performing many mighty works among them?
Skepticim, denial and unbelief of Jesus is an unbelief of the authority, person and ministry of Jesus and an unbelief of God . Unbelievers are with darkened minds and a thinking that every person is their own authority with their own right to sin with their own lifestyles and their own many different ways. But there is only one way to God and it is through Christ. In the bible, Jesus says I am the way. Darkened minds of unbelievers prevent them from seeing and knowing the light through Christ.

How come the unbelief of His countrymen prevented Jesus from performing many mighty works among them?
In most miracles and healings that Jesus performed in his time in other countries and towns of Israel he does that with the contribution of the faith of the people who are performed the miracle or healing. Here in this case the countrymen of Jesus did not even own an iota of faith in Jesus since the thought the guy is a normal guy whose family we are well aware of, the son of Mary and brothers and sisters living with them and it beat their reasons why someone they know would perform powerful miracles.

A Prophet Without Honor

It happened that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed from there. Coming into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Where did this man get this wisdom, and these mighty works? Isn't this the carpenter's son? Isn't his mother called Mary, and his brothers, James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? Aren't all of his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all of these things?" They were offended by him.
But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house." He didn't do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
