Jesus and money
Jesus talked about money all the time. Jesus, the One whom we follow, says:
  • It is harder for a rich person to be saved than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. ''Matthew 19:24''

There's something about money. I know that tug, and I know that you know it too. There's just something about it that wants to be God. Jesus said that it takes a miracle of God to be free of its pull.

    The One we follow said:

  • Don't store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth corrupts and thieves break in and steal, ''You and I know, in our part of the world and in our kind of life what kind of spiritual warfare this issue gets into , what bondage this gets us into.'' but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven for where your treasure is, that's where your heart will be. ''Matthew 6: 19-21''

The real question is: Where do you want your heart to be?

    Reflections of a Rich Man
How free I am at this point in my life.
    - can go anywhere
    - without asking anyone
    - whenever I want
I do not work for someone else. All the work I do is for my own benefit. ''If I study hard, I learn more.''

There is absolutely no material need ''or want'' in my life which is unfulfilled or I do not have the ability to fill. I am the wealthiest man on earth.
    - Housing
    - Food
    - Transportation
    - Educational Material
    - Clothing
    - Computer
    - Electric Blanket
    - Toiletries...

I`m so fat - I`m so very rich - Completely wealthy.

Note: This was written when I was a college student laden with tuition debt. Thanksgiving 1984.

Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him?
The rich young man wanted to have eternal life, but his heart wasn`t truly willing. By Jesus telling him to sell all his possessions and give to the poor, this brought to light what the young man truly worshiped, and it was not his Heavenly Father.

Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him?
Earthly riches are great obstacle to salvation; because it is almost impossible to posses them, and not to set the heart upon them.

Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him?
God wanted to test his faith if he`s willing to give up everything for the Kingdom of GOD. Coz God knows that material wealth is the big hindrance for a man to follow God`s path.

Why did Jesus tell the young man to sell his property and follow Him?
Jesus told the young man to sell all his property and follow him for the following reason; A mans` thoughts are where his treasures are, therefore, if the man did not let the earthly one go, then he would have had devided attention and thus not able to serve God with all his mind, his heart and all his strength. Michael.

Why did Jesus tell the rich man to sell all his possessions before coming to follow Him?
Mathew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

    The Rich Young Man

Behold, one came to him and said, "Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"
He said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."
He said to him, "Which ones?"
Jesus said, "'You shall not murder.' 'You shall not commit adultery.' 'You shall not steal.' 'You shall not offer false testimony.' 'Honor your father and mother.' And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'"
The young man said to him, "All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?"
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me." But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions. Jesus said to his disciples, "Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God."
When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?"
Looking at them, Jesus said, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Then Peter answered, "Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?"
Jesus said to them, "Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life. But many will be last who are first; and first who are last.
