Why did Jesus delay for two days before going to see Lazarus?
The Jews were trying to stone him. And after two days Lazarus is dead, Jesus can heal him by waking him up. This testified that he is from God because only God can give us life. By: Kah Bik Cheong - April 25, 2008 - Public Category: The Death of Lazarus

Why did Jesus delay for two days before going to see Lazarus?
I believe that Jesus delayed 2 days before going to see Lazarus because this was the moment that He would show His greatest miracle ever, to raise someone from the dead. By: Mirtha Fabro - February 03, 2008 - Public Category: The Death of Lazarus

Why did Jesus delay for two days before going to see Lazarus?
Jesus waited for two days before going to see Lazarus because Jesus said, "This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, That God's Son may be glorified by it." Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thougt that he spoke of taking rest in sleep. So Jesus said to them plainly then, "Lazarus is dead. Why did Jesus delay for two days before going to see Lazarus?
Jesus delayed for two days before going to see Lazarus because He wanted people to see that Lazarus was really dead before He raised him from his death, so Jesus could glorify God the Father. By: Allen Yong - February 03, 2008 - Public Category: The Death of Lazarus

One reason that Jesus waited two days to go to this dead persons house.
I have already written my answer.
I would like to re-emphasize that God sees all matters in time. By waiting, Jesus was letting one rumour burn itself out. That rumour is and was then that Jesus had more than just normal compassion for Lazarus's sister Mary.
Having a male relative living in the same household was important. Jesus reunited the brother with his two sisters the same day he approached the house.
By his wisdom Jesus eliminated a possible stumbling block from peoples' minds, relating to the decorum of his arrival to a household without a male relative in residence.

Why did Jesus delay for two days before going to see Lazarus?
So that the certainty of the death would already be established. That was important so that when Jesus did resurrect Lazarus, no one could say that he had not actually been dead. I might add here that the tomb in which he was buried would have been quite small. The area would have supplied only slightly over one day of oxygen.
That situation being explained, Jesus was prepared to be reunited with his friends Mary of Magdala and Martha. The odours of burials were fresh in the air. Jesus approached the tomb, had its seal broken, and requested the body and spirit of Lazarrus to come out. They did. It then was not disputed that the Nazarean had raised Lazarus from the dead.

Now a certain man was
sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister, Martha.
It was that Mary who had
anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose
brother, Lazarus, was sick. The sisters therefore sent to
him, saying, "Lord, behold, he for whom you have great affection is
sick." But when
Jesus heard it, he said, "This sickness is not to
death, but for the glory of God, that God's Son may be glorified by
it." Now
Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. When therefore he heard that he
was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was. Then after this he said to the
disciples, "Let's go into Judea again." The disciples told
him, "Rabbi, the Jews were just trying to stone you, and are you
going there again?"
Jesus answered, "Aren't there twelve hours of daylight? If a man walks in
the day, he doesn't stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
But if a man walks in
the night, he stumbles, because the light isn't in him."
He said these things,
and after that, he said to them, "Our friend,
Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of
sleep." The disciples
therefore said, "Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover."
Now Jesus had spoken
of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep.
So Jesus said to them
plainly then, "Lazarus is dead. I am glad for your sakes that I
was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let's go to
him." Thomas therefore, who
is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples,
"Let's go also, that we may die with him."
