Jesuss actions at the temple
From my husband. Further more it would teach us that sin is negotiable. Sin is not. It seperates us from the presence of God. Look what happened at the garden of Eden. God did not negotiate than, and Adam and Eve had everything we could ever hope for. The message was and is, that we are called to be holy as He is holy and nothing but complete obedience to the word of God is going to get us heaven. That is what Jesus died for. To anyone who has been beaten, abused, slandered, hurt... Would you want to know Jesus negotiated with your abuser.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a way.

He tells us "it is written". When your child is about to run into the street with on coming car, do you stop and say let's handle this diplomatically? No! Realizing the severity of the sin and the impending consequence; Jesus took control. Anger is not bad or sinful. In fact the word says "be angry but do not sin". Jesus did not sin, He sent a statement to those who were, "I will not tolerate complete and total lack of respect to holiness. Jesus also tells us the purpose of the temple. My Father's house will be a house of prayer. He was also standing up for the rights of those who wanted to use the temple for those purposes, but could not because of the distraction of the money changers who were OVERCHARGING for the pigeons they were selling as a sacrifices to those who came empty handed. Have you ever been outraged at the prices of candy at the movies? And that is not even close to being holy. They were taking something intimate and holy, and putting a price on it. Salvation and prayer are free to all who will accept it. Jesus knew the price He was about to pay for the sin going on, 39 stripes, a crown of thorns, a cross, very large nails, His side split open, not mention the humiliation. All for those who were selling the sacrifices the jews were to offer at an outrageouse price. If you understood the price He paid for your salvation. You would ask WHY he didn't do more than just clear the tables, and thank Him that your salvation is not up for diplomacy. It was won at the cross.

Jesus being Angry

I get a sadness when I read about all the people making excuses for the fact that Jesus got ticked off.  How stupid.  Is it a matter of faith for you if Jesus went off your image of him walking around softly in soft slippers?  I hope not.  Considering the apparent thick-headedness of the disciples which is recorded many times, Jesus must have been irritated a lot.  After all, he was true man....and men get irritated.  So deal with it.  Maybe he didn't like the smell of manure.  Maybe he didn't like the cheating of some of the moneychangers, maybe he just had a bad breakfast.  Is you faith that shallow that you in all your piety can't take in the fact that our loving God is also a jealous, angry, wagering God.  We have been so sold on the love side of God that we have seemingly forgotten the fact that he has standards (law) and we need to obey them or get busted by God.  Blessings.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a dramatic manner? Why did not he try to accomplish the same thing more diplomatically?
He did it because sometimes in our life it seems to be that if we humans are not pressured or has to bee forced on something before we will know that is not the right thing. doing it diplomatic will have caused so many people in the temple to ague with Jesus.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a dramatic manner? Why did not he try to accomplish the same thing more diplomatically?
Jesus wants everyone to come to the temple to try to be holy like he is. The temple is where we go to worship the Lord our father. He only tried once to accomplish the same thing because noone seemed not to care about what he was trying to do for them.

It happens only once i think..Jeus being angry. And nothing can productively help more by hurting the heart than seeing a beloved parent being upset, saddened, by our misdoings. Please Father have mercy. Sorry for all that i did wrong ''to my family'' and thank you for your rightful pained anger. Thanks be to God for your teachings it nevr took me `that` astray, but any wrong however small is painful. Thank you for your loving guidance.

Why did Jesus clear the temple in such a dramatic manner? Why did not he try to accomplish the same thing more diplomatically?
Jesus did not accopmlish the same thing deplomatically because sellers were out of oder and they did not repect the Temple of GOD and misused it. The purpose of the Temple is to be called the House of prayer. Jesus was trying to remind the followers that they should use the Temple for prayers. Jesus also reminded His followers to be perfect in the eyes of God same like babies. In this regard, Jesus demonstrated that we should confess of our sins and enter into the Temple of God with a perfect heart. The Temple of God must be kept holy.

Jesus at the Temple

Jesus entered into the temple of God, and drove out all of those who sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers' tables and the seats of those who sold the doves. He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you have made it a den of robbers!"
The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children who were crying in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the son of David!" they were indignant, and said to him, "Do you hear what these are saying?"
Jesus said to them, "Yes. Did you never read, 'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing babies you have perfected praise?'"
He left them, and went out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
